Our Policy on Health Insurance

To most people, health care is very confusing. Instead of doctors, most people assume that health care is about insurance. Yet, it is your doctor who knows you and of whom you can trust that really matters. Furthermore, insurance premiums and deductible costs are rising and the true value of those costs needs to be questioned. Indeed, the best use of insurance is to cover oneself for catastrophic medical conditions only and pay for most doctor visits and prescriptions directly.

Our office accepts Medicare as payment for your services. For most insurances, our policy is that we require payment of our discounted fees up front and offer to bill your insurance for your services as a courtesy. Whatever your insurance pays, we reimburse back to you. We do this because of higher deductibles and uncertainties about what insurances will reimburse. Having utilized this policy for the past 15 years, I am confident that you will appreciate the generous time for office visits and the comprehensive care that you will receive. I can also assure you that we do our best to make office visits affordable.

I have been in private practice for over 32 years and have strived to make myself available for timely appointments, phone calls, and emails. Optimal health care really does depend on this and we will make it happen for you.

In addition, we have a program where patients pay $95 per month for 12 month cycles and are afforded unlimited office visits, including all labs and EKGs. This has been particularly appealing to individuals with various chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and many others. And the best way to avoid catastrophic medical conditions is to take care of your health preventatively.

The practice of medicine is really an art based on the doctor’s knowledge, education, training, and experience. There are options, but good judgement by your doctor requires curiosity, sufficient time, and genuine concern for your well-being. We can provide this for you regardless of your insurance and I am always available as a second opinion, as well.
